End of the Year Lists: Just Missed

‘Tis the season when music fans with blogs feel compelled to put together their lists of favorite albums of the year. I’m going to continue the tradition on this blog as well with a series of posts highlighting the great music that was released in 2012. I’m breaking it up a little bit this year and not writing as much commentary. I’ll have some thoughts on the top ten albums, but the rest will just be mentions.

So here’s the schedule:

  • Today: Just Missed
  • Tomorrow: Special Mentions
  • Friday: Albums 11-25
  • Monday: Top Ten Albums

First, here are a few releases that just missed my top 25 but are pretty good anyway and I’d recommend them to anyone. I just didn’t find them ascending to regular rotation in my listening habits.

Muse – The 2nd Law

Trampled by Turtles – Stars and Satellites

Benjamin Gibbard – Former Lives

Glen Hansard – Rhythm and Repose

Spiritualized – Sweet Heart Sweet Light

(Note: silliest album cover in recent memory)

The Jealous Sound – A Gentle Reminder
