Please help us welcome two new additions to the musical instrument family!
First, Becky’s parents graciously gave us their old upright piano last weekend. After some crazy piano moving acrobatics, it has found a permanent place in our living room.
Second, I was fortunate enough to find a used (and very cheap) theramin on Craig’s List a couple weeks ago. In case you’re not familiar with what a theramin is, it’s the only musical instrument in existance that you don’t have to physically touch to play. The player moves his/her hands through the electric fields generated by the antennae to produce the tones. It’s very cool. It’s also difficult to play specific notes without wavering too much on them. It will be a challenge to master this abbreviated model, but perhaps once I do I’ll be ready to move on to the gold standard Moog model.
